Unearthly by MayumiOgihara Unearthly by MayumiOgihara
I wanted it to look different depend on who looks at it. She looks like a child... but not quite. I also wanted her to look pure... yet there is something eerie about her.

I decided to leave the title as 'Untitled'

Love this piece! Thought I would try some practice of achieving this flowing white hair! Don't know if I can get it though? If you care to share any tips, it would be much appreciated!

Thank you! Drawing white hair is actually easier than you may think ;)

Here is what I did...
I shade entire hair very lightly first, blend with paper towel (I use heavy-duty paper towel for workshop), use a cut-up eraser to "draw" white hair, blend again, add some darker shadows here and there (in between strands of hair), blend, then "draw" more strands of hair with an eraser... repeat these steps until you're happy. (add more shadows to create stronger contrast if you like)

Cut-up eraser is just a regular eraser cut into small a wedge shape so it has sharp corners that you can use to draw. Blend gently, otherwise graphite gets rubbed into the tooth of paper and you won't be able to create white strands of hair.

Good luck!

Very beautiful... She reminds me of JonBenét Ramsey. Beautiful, and sad.
